Senior Regional Underwriter

This company is part of a major European Insurer established over 170 years ago. The parent company is one of the leading insurers in France. They employ over 300 staff. They offer a range of insurance products for individuals and small to medium size businesses.

Our client,a leading UK insurer is seeking a senior regional underwriter for its new Bristol office who will underwrite new business risks and actively manage renewals, including:
Developing and supporting their commercial account by engaging and encouraging new and existing relationships with regional brokers.
Ensuring  technical underwriting rates and criteria are accurately applied to all
risks.
Contributing towards the achievement of an annual financial plan
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Profitably underwrite, on a case-by-case basis, new and renewal, Commercial business within underwriting criteria.
2. Underwrite within strategy and authority limits and refer all cases outside of strategy or individual limits.
3. Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with regional brokers.
4. Work with the Development Manager, by case and by broker panel, to develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with regional brokers.

We are seeking someone with
A detailed understanding, and experience of, the commercial property and liability market
The ability to assess technical risk, apply that knowledge and make decisions within authority level(s)
The ability to demonstrate the building and maintaining of internal and external relationships
The ability to demonstrate meeting and exceeding personal objectives and company-wide
targets
An awareness of the market and legal/industry developments which could affect the writing of business
A strong and decisive approach to underwriting, as the jobholder is required to manage both the technical assessment and underwriting of each risk
PC skills
Essential Qualifications: ACII or significant progress towards is preferred
